Frequently Asked Questions

My child has a disability - does that mean they can't join Scouts?

Scouts is open to all children – physical, social and/or mental disabilities do not mean you can’t join scouts BUT if your child needs extra help, that does mean we’ll need more adult hands on deck, so parents may be asked to join up as a leader or an adult helper if required.

I want my child to join Scouts but they're not keen - is that a problem?

You want your child to do scouts because it would be good for them, but they want to stay at home on their computer. Certainly scouts is a great experience for most kids – but if they really don’t want to be there, they won’t get involved and they certainly won’t co-operate.
Simply put, scouts must be fun for youth members and for Scout Leaders too…so joining in has to work out for everyone

I've paid for my child's membership - but now they say they don't want to go? Can I get my money back?

My child said he wanted to be a scout but now he doesn’t want to go – if you advise the group leader by email STRICTLY WITHIN 6 WEEKS of paying your membership fee, it may be possible to have your membership fee refunded. After that time it is NOT possible to refund your membership fee. Term fees are non-refundable.

I don't like facebook, I don't want to have to join - why should I?

FACEBOOK – is an invaluable tool for easily updated information and coming events

We have facebook pages for each youth section, you fill find there all events, photos and term programmes and forms that need to be completed for upcoming outings - its easier to see all the different layers of information if you use a PC to look at the facebook page – but whatever your device now’s the time to get to know your facebook group page – it’ll really keep you in the loop. If you don't want to join that's fine, we'll email you.
